Dream Weaving – Symbols

Symbols are a very important aspect of your dreams. During your dreams you are bombarded with images, colours, people, places and situations that could be confusing and unsettling. On the other hand, these different images that appear to be random and have no connection to your personally whatsoever, could be great omens of many positive things to come.      
      
Simple techniques can be used to decipher what these symbols mean to you. Look at your dream diary, what words jump out from the page to you. Pick out the key words that you feel are significant. Do not take the traditional meanings as gospel, as different symbols can mean different things to different people. Talking to someone else can give you a fresh perspective and you could find you discover new insights as you talk out in the open about them. Someone else’s response can also be a great way to help trigger a line of thought or insight that you have not previously thought of.      
      
Try to draw the image you are interpreting. Look at the colours you use when you begin to draw the symbol. What colours are you using? Is the symbol trying to help you understand a pattern that repeats itself in your waking life? Does the colour represent your feelings right now? Look at books on mythology, fairy tales, legends and folklore. Historical stories and myths are a terrific way to discover new meanings for your symbols. Themes and symbols such as snakes, dragons, horses, castles, are prominent in old mythological tales. Maybe you have one of these symbols appear in your dreams. These are some ways to discover what these symbols mean to you.      
      
Another way to interpret your own dream language is by word association. Write down any words, feelings, direct thoughts that come to mind when you look at the symbols in your dreams. What triggers off in your mind and what other words do you associate with the symbol? Understanding your own dream symbols are a terrific way to detect patterns and recurring themes, offering new insights and different perspectives for your own personal growth.

NAKED - Dreaming of being naked can represent a very personal and sensitive issue. If you feel embarrassed or shame from the exposure, your dream could be reflecting problems in your waking life. ANGER - Are you angry or is someone angry at you? Do you feel resentment towards someone/something and find it difficult to express your true feelings? Is there something in your life that you are upset about and are having difficulty resolving it? Anger and violence can also represent a fear of loss of power or control. Not stating clearly your needs and wants clearly can lead to you hiding your anger. What is making you angry? CARS - Driving in a car represents your ambitions and desire for success. Look at the direction you are heading. Can you see the road ahead, or have you taken a detour leading you to a dead end? What road do you need to take to get you where you are going, or do you see yourself having to turn back and return to where you started.
